ANBO Trefpunt: development in a pressure cooker

Proactive hosting as the key to digital connection

Getting older adults physically vital again after COVID: that's what ANBO Trefpunt is all about. It's a digital platform for members of ANBO, the General Dutch Association for Older Adults. Full-service agency Nilsson developed the platform and outsourced managed hosting to TrueFullstaq.

Digital meeting place to help older adults become vital again after COVID

"COVID restrictions increased loneliness among older adults. In collaboration with Nilsson, ANBO Trefpunt was created to help older adults become more vital and strengthen connections between them," says Arne van Groningen, Program Manager and Team Lead of Project Management at Nilsson Agency.

Trefpunt is the digital platform for ANBO members to meet online. For example, members can write bulletin board messages to find walking companions in their area. Arne: "For ANBO, Trefpunt adds to their services for older adults, alongside the other benefits of membership."

Development in a pressure cooker

"ANBO came to us in the summer of 2021 with a request to set up the platform. We started by gathering all ideas and creating a functional design. The development itself happened in a pressure cooker: from September to the end of 2021, we worked in an agile collaboration toward the end result," says Arne. ANBO Trefpunt was set up as a headless platform with Drupal for a stable back-end and React.js for a smooth front-end and user experience. Arne: "This makes the website much faster compared to similar platforms."

"Within 2 months after launching in early 2022, 1000 members had already signed up. Currently, more than 1500 older adults are connected to Trefpunt, with daily interactions," says Arne. "We continue to serve them with new features. We're now developing private groups and clubs. In a group, members can privately communicate with each other."

ANBO's ambition with Trefpunt is to attract even more members to the platform and increase interaction. Arne: "We're continuously in contact with ANBO to add innovations, improve the platform, and guide digital development."

Proactive hosting partner for Nilsson's clients

Nilsson became a TrueFullstaq customer in 2020 and migrates digital services for each client. ANBO Trefpunt is hosted by TrueFullstaq.
